Calculating what you’re owed
- Identify the source of your entitlements: your award, enterprise agreement, contract and legislation.
- For each pay period, compare what you were paid vs what you should have been paid. The difference is the underpayment.
- Don’t be discouraged if you can’t calculate an exact total — it’s the employer’s legal responsibility to pay correctly.
- You can ask HR/Payroll for clarification, but verify against your instrument(s) as advice may be incomplete or incorrect.
