Right to Disconnect

At a glance (Summary)

The right to disconnect protects employees who reasonably refuse to monitor, read or respond to contact (or attempted contact) from their employer or a third party outside working hours. It applies to most national system employers and employees from 26 August 2024, and to small businesses from 26 August 2025. It does not ban contact — it protects a reasonable refusal to engage with that contact outside hours.
