Your entitlement — paid & unpaid leave, accrual and forms
- Paid personal/carer’s leave: 10 days per year under the NES, accruing with your ordinary hours (pro‑rata for part‑time). Casuals do not receive paid personal/carer’s leave.
- Unpaid carer’s leave: If you have no paid leave left, you are entitled to 2 days unpaid carer’s leave per occasion when an immediate family or household member requires care/support due to illness, injury, or an unexpected emergency.
- Forms/process: Follow your employer’s leave process (e.g., notify your manager and submit a form on return if required).
- Annual leave interaction: If you are sick or caring while on annual leave, you may use personal/carer’s leave instead (subject to notice/evidence) so your annual leave is not deducted.
